North & Ross. Coral reefs in the morning, colonial ruins by lunch.
The classic Port Blair double: North Bay Island's coral beach for snorkelling and water sports in the morning, then a short hop to Ross Island (Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Dweep) to wander the atmospheric ruins of the old British administrative capital.
North Bay
The lighthouse on the back of the old ₹20 note stands here. The beach offers snorkelling straight off the shore over live coral, plus sea walk, glass-bottom boats and scuba for beginners — one of the easiest places in the Andamans to try everything in one spot.
Ross Island
A 10-minute boat ride away, Ross was the British headquarters until a 1941 earthquake. Today deer and peacocks roam among vine-swallowed ruins — the church, ballroom, bakery and officers' quarters — connected by shaded walking paths with sea views throughout.
How the day runs
Shared or private boats depart from the Aberdeen jetty / Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex. Most guests do North Bay first while the light is best for snorkelling, then Ross in the afternoon. Boats, entry tickets and a guide can all be bundled into your itinerary.
