The Capital
Port Blair
Where every Andaman journey begins — and where the islands' history lives.
Port Blair is the capital, the airport, and the harbour every island ferry departs from. Most travellers pass through in a day, but the city rewards an extra night — a working colonial-era port with serious history, harbour-front cafés, and the Andamans' best museums.
Cellular Jail
The Kala Pani — a sobering, beautifully preserved colonial prison and India's most important freedom-struggle memorial. The evening Sound & Light show is the recommended way to experience it.
Ross Island (Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep)
A 15-minute boat from Aberdeen Jetty. Once the British administrative capital, now an evocative ruin slowly being reclaimed by banyan trees and spotted deer.
North Bay & Corbyn's Cove
North Bay for snorkelling and glass-bottom boats, Corbyn's Cove for a coconut-palmed swimming beach a short drive from the city.
Where to eat
Sea Breeze and New Lighthouse for harbour-side seafood, Annapurna for the city's best South Indian breakfast, Mandalay (at Fortune Bay Island) for a more polished dinner, and Icy Spicy for a proper Andamanese lunch.
